Air Force selects provider for cybersecurity services

Computer Sciences Corp. will provide cybersecurity services to the Air Force under a three-year contract that has an estimated total value of $30 million.

The award calls for CSC to provide cybersecurity services to the 33rd Network Warfare Squadron, according to a Jan. 18 CSC announcement.

The squadron provides network defense expertise and support to the Air Force Network Operations Commander, 624th Air Force Network Operations Center, Headquarters Air Forces Central and field units throughout the Air Force.

Under the terms of the contract, CSC will isolate, contain and prevent intrusive activities on the Air Force's automated information systems and networks.

In addition, CSC will plan, coordinate, analyze and report on the results of managed network intrusion-detection and intrusion-prevention systems.

The contractor will also help the Air Force extend, operate and defend its portion of the Defense Department network and provide full-spectrum cyber capabilities for the joint warfighter.

Work will be performed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio under the direction of Wiley Hill, CSC’s local lead executive.
