DOD installs new technology to prevent Cablegate 2

New security technology that can be monitored centrally is being added to the Defense Department’s classified network to prevent any future data breaches such as another Cablegate, writes Elizabeth Montalbano of Information Week.
An international incident in late November, created by the release of thousands of classified U.S. embassy cables, caused many to question if DOD is truly secure, the article states.
New DOD CIO Terri Takai described to the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee last week that a Host-Based Security System is currently being implemented to all workstations “to prevent people from removing large amounts of data from SIPRNet by rewriting it to a removable storage device.”
