DISA turns to telecommuting to ease transition

Nearly 50 percent of DISA's Fort Meade employees have been approved to work remotely.

By summer's end, more than 4,700 new workers will have been added to the Defense Information Systems Agency's new location in Fort Meade, Md. But some of them won't be adding to the area's commuter gridlock.

That's because telework is permitted, even encouraged, by Fort Meade officials, reports the Odenton, Md., Patch.

Some employees still live in Northern Virginia near DISA's previous location in Arlington and would therefore face potentially long commutes if they didn't have the option of teleworking.
