Cubic expands mesh network at US bases in Kuwait

Cubic has won a $3.5 million subcontract from ARINC Engineering Services to support the Next Generation Wireless Communications system at three U.S. bases in Kuwait.

Cubic has won a $3.5 million subcontract from ARINC Engineering Services to support the Next Generation Wireless Communications (NGWC) system at three U.S. bases in Kuwait, company officials said Dec. 6.

Cubic’s wireless mesh network, which supports the NGWC, is already deployed at the Army's Camp Arifjan Wash Rack in country and will be installed at other bases in Kuwait, company officials said.

The network consists of battery-powered tag devices attached to vehicles that automatically connect wirelessly with one another to form a wireless mesh that allows troops to determine the precise location of any military vehicle by searching for its assigned serial number in a central database.

Base personnel in Kuwait are tracking large numbers of military vehicles as they are being prepped and readied for redeployment from Iraq as the U.S. withdraws its forces from Iraq.
