Navy dragging its feet on NGEN procurement?
The request for proposal for the $7 billion to $10 billion NMCI-follow-on procurement is almost two months behind schedule.
Almost two months have gone by since a December 2011 deadline and there still is no request for proposal for the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) procurement valued between $7 billion and $10 billion, Bob Brewin of Nextgov reports.
NGEN will be the follow-on to the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI).
In October 2011, the Naval Enterprise Program Office scheduled the release of an RFP for Dec. 11, 2011, and the contract award date for sometime in December 2012, the story said. The contract for NMCI, held by HP Enterprise Services, expires in April 2014, and NGEN needs to be in place by then, the article noted.
