Air Force releases more details on cyber operations contract
The deal, worth up to $49.5 million, would cover offensive and defensive cyber activities.
Following an initial announcement and synopsis in September of the Air Force’s interest for offensive and defensive cyber operations, real-time operations and innovation in cyber development of custom software engineering services, the service recently released more details on what it’s looking for.
The performance work statement for the contract, which has a maximum value of $49.5 million, identifies a mission of innovating, integrating and delivering cyber capabilities that equip the warfighter to dominate in cyberspace.
Operations and objectives under the contract will cover defensive cyber operations, offensive cyber operations, law enforcement and counterintelligence operations including detection, containment, collection, analysis, reverse engineering of malicious logic, command and control/situational awareness services, quality assurance and innovation integration.
The Air Force also is looking for vulnerability research, which will include research into previously known and unknown wireless system vulnerabilities. Other areas of interest include software engineering for the generation of payload for certain capabilities, threat analysis of discovered vulnerabilities and malware, malware research in detection, containment, collection, reverse engineering, analysis and mitigation of malicious logic. Counterintelligence (CI) work will focus on research and analysis and support for the development of CI plans, studies, and CI-related activities.
