Lt. Col. Hon Pak was director of Advanced Information Technology Group.

The Army has named Lt. Col. Hon Pak as its chief medical information officer.

Pak was director of Advanced Information Technology Group, a part of the Army’s Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC). TATRC oversees more than $250 million in health IT research spread across 500 ongoing projects funded by congressional line items.

He is also the immediate past president of the American Telecommunications Association and an assistant professor at USUHS, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

At TATRC, Pak headed a project exploring how health data from the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments could be shared with private health care providers.

The venture, called the Military Interoperable Digital Hospital Testbed, was a partnership between Northrop Grumman’s Information Technology sector and Conemaugh Health Systems, a hospital group based in Johnstown, Pa.
