Marine Corps issues computer procurement program RFI
Marine Corps officials want help from industry in developing a contract plan to buy rugged and nonrugged computers.
The Marine Corps plans to create a contract vehicle for obtaining desktop computers, laptops and servers, and Marine officials want industry to help develop the procurement program, according to a request for information posted on FebBizOpps.gov.
The Marine Corps Common Hardware Suite is the organization developing the plan on how to acquire rugged and non-rugged computer hardware in an effective and cost efficient way, according to the April 5 announcement.
The intent of the program is to establish a common set of hardware platforms and provide the mechanism to procure them.
The buying program will have several requirements including the computers must be manufactured and operate in an environmentally friendly way. The Marine Corps also wants a prescribed way to return old and broken equipment.
The deadline for industry submissions is April 30.
The Marine Corps will hold an industry day conference about the contract vehicle on April 16. The Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va. will host the conference, for the Marine Corps Command Hardware Suite, Commercial Off-the-Shelf Wintel Computer Platforms and supporting Logistics Services.
The conference will be held at the JACOBS Building, Quantico Center 1, 3850 Fettler Park Drive, Dumfries, Va. starting at 9 a.m.
