Networking: billets, appointments and promotions

The Pentagon announced a number of key promotions and reassignments in May and June.

The following billets, appointments and promotions were announced by the Defense Department in May and June: 

 Air Force

Maj. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins will serve as deputy director for command, control, communications and computer systems at the Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. He is currently vice director for the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Maj. Gen. Bradley Heithold has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as vice commander of the Special Operations Command. He is currently commander of the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency.

Col. John Hicks, who has been selected to the rank of brigadier general, will serve as director of command, control, communications and computer systems, Pacific Command. He is currently director of the Secretary of the Air Force and chief of staff of the Air Force Executive Action Group.

Brig. Gen. Earl Matthews has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Matthews is director of command, control, communications and computer systems at Transportation Command Headquarters. He currently is director of command, control, communications and computer systems for the U.S. Transportation Command.

Maj. Gen. Robert P. Otto, will serve as commander, Air Force ISR Agency. He is currently director of ISR Capabilities for the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for ISR.

Brig. Gen. John Stauffer will serve vice director for intelligence at the Joint Staff. He is currently deputy to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence at Headquarters International Security Assistance Force, U.S. Central Command.

Brig. Gen. Tod Wolters has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Wolters is director of air, space and cyberspace operations at the Air Force Space Command Headquarters.

Army

Gen. Martin E. Dempsey has been reappointed to the rank of general and nominated to serve as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  Dempsey is currently Army chief of staff.

Col. Daniel Hughes has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Hughes is currently deputy program executive officer of the Army Enterprise Information System.

Col. Paul Nakasone has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Nakasone is executive assistant to the commander of the Cyber Command.

Gen. Raymond Odierno has been reappointed to the rank of general and assigned to serve as Army chief of staff. He is currently commander of the Joint Forces Command.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. James Walton has been selected for the rank of major general. He is chief integration officer at the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

Marine Corps

Maj. Gen. Richard Mills, who has been selected for the rank of lieutenant general, will serve as the deputy commandant for combat development and integration; commanding general of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command; commander of the Marine Forces Strategic Command; commanding general of the Marine Corps National Capital Region Command; commander of the Marine Corps Forces National Capital Region; and commander of the Marine Corps Forces Cyber Command. He is currently deputy commandant for Marine Corps Combat Development and Integration.

Navy

Rear Adm. (lower half) Paul Becker will be assigned as director for intelligence of the Pacific Command. He is currently vice director for intelligence at the Joint Staff.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Jerry Burroughs has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral. Burroughs is program executive officer for command, control, communications and intelligence at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Bradley Gehrke, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as director for operations at the Defense Intelligence Agency. He currently is defense attache for the U.S. Embassy in Bejing.

Vice Adm. Mark Harnitchek has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of vice admiral and for assignment as director of the Defense Logistics Agency. He is currenlty deputy commander of the U.S. Transportation Command.

Rear Adm. Thomas Meek will be assigned as military executive at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. He is currently commander of the Navy Cyber Forces Command.

Rear Adm. (lower half) David Simpson, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as vice director at the Defense Information System Agency. He is currently the Navy's corporate director for information dominance.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Elizabeth Train will be assigned as director for intelligence at the Joint Staff. She is currently director for intelligence at the Pacific Command.
