DARPA intell program sent to Afghanistan to spy

Controversial Nexus 7 intelligence program sent Afghanistan to measure stability.

A classified intelligence program called Nexus 7 has been sent to Afghanistan to conduct surveillance on the region’s instability, writes Noah Shachtman of Wired’s Danger Room.

The move is being championed by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency officials who are looking at Nexus, which culls multiple data sources, as a tool to break free from the “traditional, long-range research role,” reports Danger Room.

But some intelligence operators see the DARPA program as duplicative, having mediocre code and not a way to stop the Taliban, the article said.
