DISA, Jackpine Technolgies partner on military cloud effort
DISA plans to award a sole-source contract to Jackpine Technologies to continue the development of the milCloud environment and various functionalities needed to support integration with the agency's next-generation Infrastructure as a Service.
The Defense Information Systems Agency plans to award a sole-source contract to Jackpine Technologies to continue the development of the milCloud environment and various functionalities needed to support integration with the agency's next-generation Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), DISA said March 5.
The combined milCloud and IaaS capabilities will result in delivery of an Application Lifecycle Virtualization Environment (ALVE), which will be used to support DISA's Agile, Rapid Development and Deployment Model, the agency said in a special notice posted on the FedBizOpps website. The milCloud software is an embedded component of the ALVE and critical to a successful completion of the overall environment, the agency said.
The work, which includes engineering enhancement and application software lifecycle support for the existing milCloud baseline, accomplished under the contract will give DISA the ability to continue to provide an array of milCloud services to the Defense Department community. Those services include the capability to access DISA services on demand such as development environments, provision virtual operating environments, build and test systems, and deploy to production.
Furthermore, the effort will allow the capabilities of the milCloud system to more tightly integrate with Forge.mil, the DOD Enterprise Test Framework, Secure Technology Application eXecution, and also other DOD private cloud and hybrid cloud technologies, environments and services.
The base period for the contract is one year, with two one-year options.
