Four small businesses hit the jackpot on Tuesday when the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) awarded a combined $404 million under the DISA Information Technology Enterprise Support Services (DESS) task order.

The companies are: HighAction, Fairfax, VA; Soft Tech Consulting, Chantilly, VA, Unitech Consulting (doing business as Chameleon Integrated Services) St. Louis, MO; and NOVA Corp., Chambersburg, PA. The awards are a set-aside for Small Business Administration-certified 8(a) contractors.

“DISA is anticipating numerous IT infrastructure consolidation initiatives across the DoD and anticipates other DoD organizations acquiring IT services from the DESS contract,” states the task order announcement on FedBizOpps.gov. “Additionally, DISA is anticipating that many of DISA's CONUS (continental U.S.) and OCONUS (outside continental U.S.) locations will begin acquiring IT support services from the DESS contract in order to align with many of the agency's Campaign Plan initiatives.”

DISA's internal IT enterprise provides services for approximately 4,200 DISA employees at DISA headquarters, Fort Meade, MD, as well as an additional 4,000 DISA employees accessing the enterprise via local area networks located at 39 CONUS and OCONUS DoD locations.

DISA's global IT enterprise network employs over 550 physical and virtual servers on three classification levels, and uses approximately 9 principle tool suites to monitor its worldwide status. The DISA IT enterprise provides network access to mission-oriented databases and applications maintained on non-DISA networks.
