LGS acquires communications developer Axios
The deal could help LGS compete for NetCents 2 work.
Networking specialist LGS Innovations said it has acquired Axios Inc., a supplier of communications and signal processing equipment and services to the Defense Department and U.S. intelligence agencies.
LGS, of Herndon, Va., said Thursday (Oct. 1) the deal to acquire the signal-processing specialist based in Dulles, Va., would complement its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. The deal is also expected to boost LGS's application development and mission services offerings.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Axios will become a subsidiary of LGS.
LGS said CEO Kevin Kelly considered 100 companies before agreeing to acquire Axios. The company supports DoD and intelligence agencies with RF communications and digital signal processing technologies along with emerging software-defined radio products.
The Axios acquisition is LGS’ first since it was purchased by Madison Dearborn Partners and CoVant in 2014 from Alcatel-Lucent.
LGS Innovations was among 20 large communications and computing companies tapped by the Air Force in May to compete for work under its latest Network-Centric Solutions 2 contract. NetCents 2 is a $7.9 billion program to upgrade network operations and infrastructure.
