HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The U.S. Army’s ability to “Deliver Victory” is a key focus of March’s AUSA Global Force Symposium and Exposition. The key to a decisive, full-chested victory is to leverage the industrial might that delivers the technologies our soldiers rely on in combat. At L3Harris, we’re answering that call to industry by expanding capacity to produce combat-proven solutions at the speed and scale the Department of War (DoW) demands.
For more than 70 years, L3Harris has delivered essential fuzes and safe-and-arm solutions that bring the “might” to multi-domain battlefields across the globe. Whether our customers need deployment versatility, enhanced lethality or the ability to defeat small and nimble targets, we offer a full menu of options for fuzing capability.
As threats continue to expand and evolve, two of those capabilities – the Fixed Wing, Air Launched, Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems Ordnance (FALCO) and the Multi-Option Fuze for Mortars (MOFM) – have become indispensable to the modern soldier.
Counter UAS with FALCO Proximity Fuze
As unmanned aerial systems (UAS) redefine the battlespace, fast and affordable solutions to counter these threats have become essential. The L3Harris FALCO Proximity Fuze is a game-changer for counter-UAS operations. Unlike legacy fuzes which require a direct hit, the FALCO Proximity Fuze calculates the closest point of approach and detonates precisely when it matters, turning mature rocket platforms into low-cost, highly effective C-UAS weapons. When integrated with L3Harris’ VAMPIRE C-UAS system, the FALCO Proximity Fuze helps enable VAMPIRE to detect, engage and defeat small and elusive unmanned threats.
The FALCO Proximity Fuze is combat-proven, delivering results where and when it counts. And as demand for this type of capability surges, L3Harris is ready. We’re ramping up production on the proximity fuze sevenfold, and we’re strengthening supply chains by investing in equipment, fixtures and tooling to ensure quality components are delivered on or ahead of schedule. Our operational improvements, like modernizing our inspection equipment and onboarding new material suppliers, have enabled a twentyfold increase in scalability, helping to ensure warfighters have what they need when they need it.
Unmatched Reliability with MOFM
While we innovate for emerging threats with products like the FALCO Proximity Fuze, we never lose sight of enduring capabilities. For 25 years, L3Harris has delivered MOFM with unmatched reliability. More than 6 million fuzes have been delivered to date with an exceptional record of quality and on-time delivery.
This success reflects our robust processes, strong customer partnerships and a workforce of more than 675 employees whose expertise spans decades. The M734A1 and M783 MOFM provide combat units with advanced options for 60 mm, 81 mm and 120 mm mortars, integrating multiple settings like point detonating, delay and proximity with improved accuracy, and apex sensors for overhead safety. Unlike earlier designs, these fuzes do not have a pull pin, reducing risk and streamlining field use all while meeting U.S. and NATO standards.
Our commitment to integrated safety features and next-generation proximity accuracy make MOFM a cornerstone of mortar lethality. And as the DoW looks to the future, we’re investing in supply chain resilience and production capacity to support uninterrupted growth.
Victory depends on precision, adaptability and scale. With the FALCO Proximity Fuze delivering combat-proven C-UAS capability and MOFM setting the standard for reliability and innovation, L3Harris is delivering decisive advantage today and shaping the fight for tomorrow.
