DODIIS to focus on advances in secure collaboration

The 2011 Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DODIIS) conference kicks off May 1 in Detroit and Defense Systems staff members will be on hand to provide timely coverage of the event.

The Defense Systems staff will produce three online DODIIS show dailies that will be sent by e-mail to recipients Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Readers also can go to the Defense Systems' website to read conference updates throughout the day.

This year’s theme is “Secure and Collaborative Intelligence in Defense of the Nation.” Panel presentations will address how to integrate the intelligence mission through technology and how to deliver secure and collaborative intelligence to warfighters.

The keynote speakers are:

• Army Lt. Gen. Ronald Burgess, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
• Grant Schneider, deputy director for information management and CIO, Defense Intelligence Agency.

DOD officials participating in the panel presentations include:

• David DeVries, principal director, Office of the DOD CIO.
• Jack Gumtow, CIO, Office of Naval Intelligence.
• Robert Marlin, deputy director, ISR capabilities, Air Force.
• James Martin, director, ISR programs, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.
• Gary Palmertree, CTO, Marine Corps Intelligence.
• Mary Lynn Schnurr, intelligence CIO, Army Deputy Chief of Staff.
• Neill Tipton, director of information sharing and partner engagement, DOD.

The conference is expected to draw more than 3,000 participants and will include more than 400 exhibits on intelligence systems and technologies.

The event, sponsored by the Defense Intelligence Agency's Directorate for Information Management and CIO, offers an opportunity for members of the defense intelligence community and their industry peers to share knowledge and experiences related to intelligence technologies.
