Air Force, Boeing sign new WGS satellite contract

The Air Force has awarded Boeing a $1.1 billion contract to expand the constellation of satellites that belong to the Wideband Global Satcom system, reports Defense News.

The scope of work covers full production of a seventh satellite, advanced procurement for an eighth and an option for a ninth.

The WGS satellite system provides flexible, high-capacity communications for U.S. warfighters.
