GeoEye-2 satellite passes key tests in development
The GeoEye-2 satellite being developed for the Enhanced View Program has reached a critical milestone.
The GeoEye-2 satellite has successfully met all of the U.S. government's Enhanced View program requirements on time and under contract terms, and therefore has received a $111 million cost-share payment from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for achieving the milestone, GeoEye officials said in a June 6 announcement.
The Lockheed Martin Space Systems-built GeoEye 2 spacecraft offers, such as robust tasking capabilities, faster imagery collection rates and a next-generation geospatial systems camera, the announcement said.
The Enhanced View Program was established to meet the needs of the Defense Department and intelligence community for increased space imagery services.
