JLENS passes latest milestone; is mission ready: Raytheon

The JLENS aerostat system has successfully completed a 14-day milestone test and is mission ready, according to manufacturer Raytheon.

The Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Elevated Netted Sensors (JLENS) system has passed its latest milestone and is mission ready, according to manufacturer Raytheon, that cited its two-week test run at the Utah Training and Test Range.

The successful test highlights JLENS’ outstanding surveillance, and aircraft- and missile-detection capabilities, a company press release said.

The orbit’s system has one 74-meter, tethered aerostat that includes 360-degree surveillance radar, and a second 74-meter, tethered aerostat that holds fire control radar; both aerostats have the option to communicate with other systems.
