DARPA director said ready to join Google

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Director Regina Dugan will soon leave her job running the Defense Department's top research shop to take a senior executive job with Google, Noah Shachtman reports in Wired's Danger Room.

Dugan’s emphasis on cybersecurity and next-generation manufacturing earned her strong support from the White House even during lean budget times, the article added.

Dugan also won over some military commanders by diverting research money from long-term projects to immediate battlefield concerns, the story also said, noting that she told a congressional panel, “There is a time and a place for daydreaming. But it is not at DARPA."
