Lawmakers ask FCC to reconsider on LightSquared

A quartet of lawmakers has asked Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski to find a viable solution that will allow prospective wireless provider LightSquared to launch its planned 4G network, reports The Hill.

Reps. Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.), Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), Jim Moran (D-Va.) and Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) said in an April 10 letter that the FCC should "examine all potential paths forward before closing the door on what could be an opportunity to increase competition and access in the nation's wireless providers," The Hill said.

LightSquared invested billions of dollars in plans for its nationwide wireless network, but the FCC moved to block the network in February over concerns that it would interfere with critical Global Positioning System devices.
