DOD health plan gets data processing boost

Apptis will develop and deploy additional features for a key data processing application in support of the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan and the Tricare Management Activity.

Apptis Inc. will continue providing data processing services to designated providers of the Defense Department’s Uniformed Services Family Health Plan under a five-year, $21 million contract.

Under the contract, Apptis, of Chantilly, Va., will develop and deploy additional features for a key data processing application in support of the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan and the Tricare Management Activity. The company has provided similar services during the past three years.

The Apptis project team comprises DefenseWeb Technologies Inc., of San Diego, Calif., which works on the Web portal, and Ingenix, of Eden Prairie, Minn., which furnishes data mining and analysis services.

The team collects data on a monthly basis from the designated providers and coordinates the information with the Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System, company officials said. The system reconciles enrollment and payment and provides monthly reporting services.

Designated providers are facilities approved by DOD to provide care to Uniformed Services Family Health Plan beneficiaries.
