Terrain offers clues to choppers used in bin Laden raid
Although the exact chopper types used to infiltrate the Osama bin Laden mansion are unknown, the surrounding terrain offers a clue.
The U.S. mission to avenge the deaths of 3,000 Americans has been accomplished under the cover of darkness in a remote area near the city of Abbottabad, Pakistan with the announcement by President Barack Obama on May 1 that Osama bin Laden is dead.

The three helicopters that were dispatched to the mansion where bin Laden was hiding out have not been identified by model, but the area's terrain of about 5,000 feet above sea level and higher offers clues about their identity, writes David Axe and Noah Shachtman in Wired's DangerRoom.
The writers speculate that between versions of the Army's UH-60 Blackhawk and CH-47 Chinook choppers, the helicopters used may have been "tricked out MH-47Gs with up to four door guns."
