Japanese contractor hack might have put US in danger
A data breach of Japanese defense contractor Mitsubishi Heavy is now believed to have infiltrated U.S. military aircraft and power plant information, though whether the data was classified is still unknown.
New information has come to light on what was thought to be a minimal cyberattack against defense contractor Mitsubishi Heavy in September, but may actually have infiltrated data on U.S. military aircraft and nuclear power plants, according to Agence France-Presse.
The cyber intrusion struck 83 computers at 11 of the Japanese manufacturer’s plants, and is now thought to have transmitted information on fighters and helicopters for which the company has contracts, and also structural information, including earthquake resistance, regarding the power plants.
Whether the data stolen was classified is unknown, the article said.
