Army awards unattended ground sensor contract

The Army has awarded Northrop Grumman a five-year, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract to furnish Scorpion I and II unattended ground sensor (UGS) systems for force protection and intelligence gathering purposes, the company said in an April 9 statement. The company did not disclose the contract value.

Under the terms of the contract, the company will provide wired and wireless versions, and related support services, the statement said. The IDIQ format supports both existing equipment and future purchases.

The systems use seismic, magnetic and/or passive infrared sensors to cue long-range, short-range and point blank-range thermal or day cameras to detect and assess potential threats, the statement said.
