DISA's Defense Connect Online Web app goes mobile
A DOD desktop-based tool that lets users set up and join meetings on the go is available as a mobile app for Android smart phones and tablets.
A widely used Defense Department Web application is now available for mobile devices. The Defense Information Systems Agency’s Defense Connect Online allows users to host and attend meetings from their Android smart phones and tablets.
The application also provides Web conferencing, presence and awareness, and chat capabilities.

The DCO app is the mobile version of a Web-based meeting tool that was initially launched in 2008 as a pilot program to provide DOD with a real-time collaboration tool, said Mark Mills, vice president and DCO program manager at Carahsoft.
The desktop application has since taken off across the department, with more than 640,000 people currently using it, he added.
DCO is built around Adobe Connect and Cisco Jabber as a chat function. The mobile app allows users to remotely set up and manage meetings and share information from their mobile devices over unclassified networks, Mills said.
The next step is to make DCO mobile available for iOS smart phones and tablets, Mills said. Users with iOS devices can currently use Adobe Connect to access DCO meetings, but the goal is to have a branded version of the application available to users soon, he said.
The DCO mobile application is available for free download at the Google Play site.
