Mercury to assist Navy with electronic warfare research

Mercury Systems has won a three-year contract worth $16.7 million with the Naval Research Laboratory's Tactical Electronic Warfare Division to assist the division with electronic warfare technology, the company said Feb. 11.

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, Mercury will supply advanced mixed signal digital receivers for prototype electronic warfare applications on airborne and surface shipboard platforms, the company said.

The Navy seeks through the research to improve its electronic warfare capabilities in order to dominate the electromagnetic spectrum and deny its use to hostile forces, company officials said.

The company's technological capabilities in the realm of digital signal processing and data movement will help it with that effort, the officials said. The company' s mixed-signal offerings are designed to deliver ultra-fast tuning, high-dynamic range and extreme data processing, they said.

The NRL conducts a broad program of scientific research and advanced technological development directed toward maritime applications of new improved materials, techniques and equipment.

Mercury Systems of Chelmsford, Mass., is a provider of commercially developed, open sensor and Big Data processing systems commercial, defense and intelligence applications.
