Air Force awards F-16 training deal

L-3 Link Simulation and Training will furnish as many as 20 Block 40/50 F-16 mission training centers, the Defense Department announced Dec. 29.

L-3 Communications Corp. will provide F-16 training simulators to the Air Force under a contract potentially worth $68.2 million.

Under the contract, L-3 Link Simulation and Training will furnish as many as 20 Block 40/50 F-16 mission training centers, the Defense Department announced Dec. 29.

L-3 Link has supported the Air Force and Air National Guard on various F-16 simulation programs since the 1980s, according to the company’s Web site. In addition, Link has shipped F-16 training equipment to 10 foreign military services.

The contracting activity is Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
