The U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) sees a need to build a worldwide network that would link special operations forces of allied and partner nations to better coordinate operations that are carried out against global terrorism, reports Defense News.
SOCOM envisions a network comprising regional security coordination centers that are organized and structured along the lines of the NATO SOF Headquarters in Mons, Belgium.
A linked confederation of allied special operations forces "could collectively increase its influence and operational reach around the globe,” SOCOM Deputy Director of Operations Brig. Gen. Sean Mulholland said May 7 at a Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference in Amman, Jordan.
