SAIC files protest over DISA's network services award to competitor
SAIC doesn't plan to loss of key network services deal to competitor Lockheed Martin without a fight.
Science Applications International Corp. has filed a protest with the Government Accountability Office over the Defense Department's award of a network support contract potentially worth $4.7 billion over seven years, reports Bloomberg Businessweek.
SAIC is the incumbent contractor on the Global Information Grid (GIG) Services Management Operations (GSM-O) contract. The Defense Information Systems Agency's announcement June 15 that it was awarding the contract to competitor Lockheed Martin comes as a serious blow to SAIC's federal business pipeline.
The McLean, Va.-based contractor filed its challenge June 22 with the GAO, which arbitrates contract disputes between federal agencies and government contractors, the story said.
“We are disappointed in the government’s decision to not award us” the contract, Melissa Koskovich, a spokeswoman for SAIC, said in a June 25 statement. "We feel our solution is the best value for the customer and we are proud of our performance history on this contract.”
