Oracle America awarded USMC bridge contract for ERP logistics system

The Marine Corps System Command, Quantico, Va., awarded Oracle America, Redwood City, Calif., a $41.3 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity bridge contract to provide services to transition key support activities and knowledge to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic, and to procure services required to support initial minimized levels of sustainment of the Global Combat Support System-Marine Corps/Logistics Chain Management Increment 1 (GCSS-MC LCM Increment I). Oracle has been involved in GCSS-MC since 2004.

GCSS-MC is a logistics system that is designed to enable streamlined processes and provide accurate, real-time data both in garrison and in deployed environments. The resulting enterprise-wide visibility of data will allow logistics planners and operators to make decisions about their supply chains based on reliable information.

GCSS-MC rides on the existing Marine Corps Tactical Data network and substantially improves the Combat Effectiveness of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF). GCSS-MC Increment 1 is being implemented in two major releases: Release1.1 (core logistics business functionality) is the initial system implementation providing enhanced supply and maintenance capability; and Release 1.2 provides functionality for Marines working in deployed austere environments.
