Navy awards deal to support airborne radios
Rockwell Collins receives a $31 million contract for repair support of its AN/ARC 210 devices.
The Navy has awarded Rockwell Collins a $31 million contract for weapon replaceable assembly repair support of the Aviation Navy/Airborne Radio Communication airborne radios, which provide secure voice, data and imagery.
The contract applies to the AN/ARC 210 version Electronics Protection Radio System and also calls for support for the Communications Security System requirements for the Navy and other Defense Department services. It’s a five-year contract with one five year option that could total $67 million if all options are exercised.
In September 2015, Rockwell received a $141 million contract for the AN/ARC 210 radios, which are programmable, two-way radios that can handle UHF and VHF bandwidths, along with AM, FM and satellite communications, connecting, for example, with the Navy’s global Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite system. There are tens of thousands of the radios being used.
Under the latest contract, Rockwell will manage the technical and configuration changes, as well as obsolescence.
