Technica picked for cybersecurity and networking at Langley AFB

Technica Corporation, a defense contractor specializing in cybersecurity, systems engineering, and product deployment, was awarded a $22 million contract by the Air Force on Tuesday. The Virginia-based company will provide airborne and defense networking to support cyber-readiness and cybersecurity at the Combined Air Operations Center – Experimental (CAOC – X) at Langley Air Force Base, Va. The CAOC–X tests next generation weapons and operating systems implemented at Air, Space, Joint and Combined Air Operations Centers globally.

“Technica will ensure mission readiness and assurance to the critical networks and systems vital to the U.S. Air Force and national security,” said Technica President and Chief Executive Officer Miguel Collado in a company press release.

Contract specifics include upgrading data storage infrastructure, boosting predictive data analytics to mitigate cyber vulnerabilities, and standardizing system management processes. "Air Combat Command (ACC) has enlisted Technica to keep their classified networks secure and operational while ensuring the capacity and availability required to support the experimental Weapon System environments within CAOC-X,” said Collado in an email response to Defense Systems.

“Our team will introduce innovative techniques and emerging technologies in the area of predictive data analytics to improve cybersecurity and keep configurations controlled and operating in a predictable manner. This will ensure DISA-STIG standards and increase mission effectiveness to crews within the Combined AOCs worldwide.”  Terms indicate a one-year contract value of $4 million with three option years to follow. The contract was awarded through the Air Force NetCents-2 Network Operations as a Small Business task order.

Technica’s collaboration with NetCents began last year when they signed a $5.8 million IDIQ
contract to provide net-centric Information Technology (IT) services to Air Force operations and capabilities around the world. Phantom Eagle is providing sub-contracting support. The engineering services company has worked with the CAOC since 2006.
