The Army’s Block III Apache helicopter will have a family of sensors and data links built into it that will give pilots various perspectives on the battlefield as the sensors gather information from soldiers on the ground and nearby unmanned aircraft systems and scout helicopters, reports Michael Hoffman at Defense News.
The Army has incorporated the Block III Apache into its Manned Unmanned Teaming Level 2 project, which was established last year to facilitate the sharing of aerial reconnaissance information between Kiowa scout helicopters and RQ-7 Shadow UASes.
The first Block III Apaches, which are scheduled to come off Boeing’s production line in October, are slated for the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.
