US, South Korean exercise finds glitch in intell software
U.S. and South Korean military intelligence analysts experienced repeated problems when the Distributed Common Ground System-Army went offline recently during a training exercise.
North Korean forces outmaneuvered the U.S. and South Korea recently due to a technical glitch in intelligence software; but thankfully, it was during a simulation exercise, reports Defense News.
The Distributed Common Ground System-Army (DCGS-A) froze up repeatedly after it was overwhelmed with data being used to track a simulated North Korean attack during the Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise, leaving intelligence analysts unable to communicate with simulated commanders and troops.
Analysts were forced to break up the data into sections as a work-around; DCGS-A legacy hardware may be behind the disruption in the software, the article noted.
