Cybersecurity chief steps down, plans long Harley ride

White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt plans to set down at the end of May after serving as the Obama administration’s point person for efforts to develop a national and international cybersecurity strategies designed to protect vulnerable computer networks, reports the Washington Post.

Schmidt said he is retiring to spend more time with his family, and also said that he might pursue teaching work in the cybersecurity field. He plans to ride his Harley Davidson west to his home near Seattle.

Michael Daniel, who currently is chief of the White House budget office’s intelligence branch, will succeed Schmidt, the story said.
