DARPA, Invincea partner on secure Android smart phones
DARPA and the Army Research Laboratory have awarded Invincea a contract to enhance security for Android smart-phone and tablet platforms for use at the tactical edge of the battlefield.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Army Research Laboratory have awarded Invincea a multiyear, $21.4 million contract to enhance security for Android smart-phone and tablet platforms for use at the tactical edge of the battlefield, company officials said June 25 in a news release.
The work is being done as part of the Mobile Armour project, which seeks to develop secure smart-phone and tablet mobile platforms for military use, the announcement said.
Initial versions of the secure Android smart phones and tablets, which are designed to meet stringent military security specifications for tactical use, are already being field tested by Army personnel in Afghanistan, the announcement said.
