Pair to provide radios through interim program

Thales Communications and Harris Corp. will compete for delivery orders under an interim program designed to provide the U.S. military with tactical radios, reports Defense Industry Daily.

While the Defense Department continues to move forward its ambitious Joint Tactical Radio System program, it plans to purchase hand-held and portable radios from the two contractors through the Consolidated Interim Single Channel Handheld Radio program.

The interim program has a ceiling of $9 billion.
