The Air Force has awarded Raytheon a contract to deploy a new tactical sensor system that will identify targets based on their spectral characteristics.

The Air Force has awarded Raytheon a contract to deploy a new tactical sensor system that will identify targets based on their spectral characteristics, the company announced June 19.

The Airborne Cueing and Exploitation System Hyperspectral will be deployed on the MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle.

The system, which was tested in September 2010, went through a rapid development process, the company said.
